ACADEMIC YEAR 2017

 

K. J. JOSEPH ENDOWMENT LECTURE ON GST

Mr. Paul M L, Associate Professor in GULATI Institute of Finance and Tax, Trivandrum was invited to deliver the K.J Joseph Endowment Lecture on GST on 30.06.2017. All IInd  year BCom Students attended the programme.

 

STATE LEVEL WORKSHOP ON SPSS

A two day state level workshop on SPSS was conducted by PG Department of Commerce from 30th June to 1st July 2017. Dr. Saji T G, Associate Professor of Government College, Thrissur was brought in as the resource person. Faculty and students from different colleges benefited from the workshop.

 

EXTENSION LECTURE ON THE ROLL OUT OF GST TO BUSINESS COMMUNITY

1. Seminar on the topic, ‘The Roll Out of GST- The Biggest Tax Reform of Independent India’ was conducted by PG Department of Commerce on 12.07.2017. TPr. Vijayanachari S, Chairman, Institute of Tax practitioners of India, Kerala Chapter equipped business community on the new legislation.
2. An extension lecture organized by investors club to faculty members  on the topic of ‘How to invest in Capital Market’.

       

 

NATIONAL SYMPOSIUM ON GST- ONE NATION, ONE MARKET AND ONE TAX.

Mr. SachinMenon (KPMG, Mumbai), the Co-Chair of GST Task Force, FICCI and Mr. V K Krishnakumar C A were invited for the National Symposium on GST- one Nation, One Market and One Tax. Faculty and Students of different colleges participated in the flagship event organised by PG Department of Commerce on 21.07.2017.

 

ACADEMIC YEAR -2018

 

INVITED TALK

PG Department of Commerce scheduled an invited talk on the topic ‘Budget 2018- Tax Implications and Strategies’ by Dr. Saji T G, Associate Professor, Govt. College, Thrissur.

 

FACULTY AND STUDENT DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME

Faculty and Students from different colleges attended talk on 14.02.2018. State level workshop on Financial Derivatives and Risk Management was organized by PG Department of Commerce on 6th and 10th of November 2018. Mr. Pradeep Chandrasekharan (ICWA) educated faculty of different colleges on the topic.

 

INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE

International conference on market liquidity and sustainable development towards knowledge society On 14th-15th December, 2018 Dr. THOMAS POGGE- ‘The Health Impact Fund-Enhancing Justice and Efficiency in Global Health’ (Professor in Philosophy and International Affairs, Yale University, USA.

            

 

ACADEMIC YEAR 2019

 

ENTREPRENEURSHIP LECTURE SERIES

As part of their studies, the 2nd year students when they study Entrepreneurship Development. To develop and ignite an entrepreneurial were encouraged to make their own handicrafts and they can set up a stall and exhibit it as well as sell it. Shri. Kochu Ochuouseph Chittlapilly the CEO and founder of V-Guard industries as the chief guest of the day. Who enlightened our students with his lecture and visited the stalls. The staff and all the students were given opportunity to visit the stalls and buy the products. The students were able to make some money out of their talents.

 

INVITED TALK

A lecture titled ‘BUDGET 2019 AND CAPITAL MARKETS’ was delivered by Mr. AkshayAgarwal who was at that time the managing director of Acumen capital market India Ltd. The investor club and Christ college teamed up with the ‘Economic Times in Campus' to organize this lecture at the Chavara seminar hall on the 22nd of July, 2019 from 1.30 PM to 3.30 PM. The discussion highlighted the impact of the budget mainly on the capital market.

3. CMA Profinz in association with Christ College (Autonomous) Irinjalakuda  organized a webinar on Course Awareness & Job Prospects of cost & Management Accountancy on 15th Dec 2020.
4.  T.I.M.E Institute in association with Christ College (Autonomous) Irinjalakuda conducted Free model aptitude Test on 27th Dec 2020.
5. NCVRT in association with Christ College (Autonomous) Irinjalakuda organized a webinar on Practical accounting & Tax Practice on 30th Dec 2020.

 

INTERCLASS QUIZ COMPETITION

An Interclass Quiz competition known by ‘MINUTE MIRROR’ was a success for the second time on 10th February, 2020. The Quiz competition was hosted by commerce Quiz club and PG Department, always aiming at forming leaders who are intellectually competent.

 

BUDGET DISCUSSION

The Budget discussion for the academic year 2019-20 was held on February the 13th, 2020 from 10 AM to 12.30 PM at the Chavara Seminar Hall located inside the college premises. The lecture titled ‘UNION BUDGET 2020’ was taken by Dr. Saji T G who was at the time an associate professor at the school of management studies, CUSAT. The lecture gave the students an overview of that year’s union budget and what implications it had for the economy. The lecture was followed by a question and answer session in which the students participated enthusiastically. The event was organized by the investor club in association with Christ College (Autonomous).

COMMERCE ASSOCIATION ACTIVITIES

The commerce association day inauguration and club inauguration took place on 12 June, 2021 on the zoom digital platform. The main chief guests of the programme were Rev. Dr. Jolly Andrews CMI, principal in charge of Christ College (Autonomous) Irinjalakuda and Mr. AshkarSaudan, cine actor. The programme started at 10 am with a prayer song by Ms. Swathy Sudheer of 3^rd year B.com (aided). Then, the welcome speech was delivered by Ms. Shine Paul, faculty of P.G. department of commerce. The programme was presided by Rev. Dr. Jolly Andrews CMI and the inauguration of commerce association was done by the honorable guest. An introduction video of the various club activities was played after inauguration. After the video, the honorable guest, Mr. Ashkar Saudan inaugurated the various club activities.

 

DEBATE COMPETITION

PG Department of Commerce, Christ College (Autonomous) IJK, conducted a debate competition on the topic “Crypto currencies should be Encouraged or Banned” on 12th June 2021.

 

INTER DEPARTMENTAL CARTOON COMPETITION

PG Department of Commerce, Christ College (Autonomous), Irinjalakkuda conducted an inter-department cartoon competition on 14 June, 2021 through Whatsapp platform under Extra Curricular Activities Club. Students were given instructions through Whatsapp group. Topic of the competition was “Enlightened malayalee community during the Covid period”. Theme was given five minutes before the competition and one hour time period made available to the students for the competition. In completion of the time period students submitted their drawings through the Whats app group created. Jury panel was comprised with Mr.Albert Antony, Arts Teacher, BharatiyaVidhyaBhavan’s, IJK and Ms.Karuna Pious P, Artist. 34 students were participated in the competitionand from that 3 were selected as winners. Cash prizes were presented to the winners through sponsorship.

 

CAREER GUIDANCE CELL

Dept. of Commerce, Christ College, Irinjalakuda and the TIME Institute of Thrissur jointly organised an orientation programme on 5^th June 2021 for the B.Com students. Around 107 students from the 1 st and 2 nd year B.Com aided section attended the programme. The lecture was delivered by Mr. Diju Jose the director of the TIME Institute of Thrissur Dist. He gave an elaborate session on the benefits of studying in TIME and pursuing MBA for their Post-graduation in ITT’s and IIM’s or in top B-Schools in India.

1. Webinar on “SOCIAL ASPECTS OF AN INDUSTRY” organized on 11^th June 2021 Sanjose A Thomas(Assistant Professor, Dept. of Sociology, Sacred Heart College (Autonomous), Thevara, Ernakulam) was the resource person.
2. PG Department of Commerce, Christ College(Autonomous)IJK, organized a webinar on the topic “Goal Setting and Mind Management”on 14 June 2021 at 2pm through Google meet platform . Sri Muvish K M (Assistant Professor, PG Department of Commerce, Christ College, IJK) delivered welcome address on behalf of commerce family. Beloved principal Rev Dr Jolly Andrews CMI expounded the presidential address in the event. Eminent resource person DrSobhaBennet Mathew(Assistant Professor, Soft Skill Trainer, Department of Commerce, K J Somaiya College of Arts and Commerce, Mumbai) maneuvered the session.
3. Research Department of Commerce, Christ College (Autonomous), Irinjalakkuda conducted a webinar on 30 June, 2021 “Welcome to the Word of Business”, at 2 pm through Zoom platform in association with Logic School of Management, Ernakulam. Mr Midhun Mitwa, motivational speaker, corporate and soft skill trainer handled the session by discussing various topics like future challenges and opportunities in commerce, career guidance, EDP training and interview tricks.
4. PG and Research Department of Commerce, Christ College (Autonomous) Irinjalakuda conducted a webinar on “Digital Marketing” through Zoom platform on 03/07/2021, 2 PM in association with ILT(InternetLeadsTraining.com). Resource person Mr Jitto Jose, CEO/Founder of Internet leads training.com and ex-digital marketer of Jet Airways, handled the core of the session by explaining the potential of digital marketing in current business scenario.

 

INVESTOR’S CLUB  

 

1. National Webinar on “Basis of Investment and Role of Depositories in the Capital Market” jointly organised by Christ college, Commerce Department Investors Club in collaboration with CDSL on 25 June 2021. Madhusudanan E.P was the resource person.
2. National Webinar on “Understanding Stock Market” jointly organised by Christ College, Commerce Department in collaboration with SMI on 20 July 2021.The Webinar began at 1.30 PM in the presence of all the members of the Commerce Department.The webinar was attended by around 60 participants. Our resource person is Dr. Balaji Rao D.G. He has 15 years’ work experience in the field of financial service and wealth management.

 

FINANCIAL LITERACY CLUB

Financial Literacy club of Research & PG Department Of Commerce, Christ College Autonomous Irinjalakuda along with Postal Division Irinjalakuda, Mechabe Commerce club RMVHSS Perinjinam conducted a webinar based on the topic ‘Awareness Of Postal Investment Schemes' held on 26/06/2021, Saturday at 7.00pm through Google Meet. Almost 70 participants joined the webinar.

 

JOURNAL CLUB

The Journal club under the P.G Department of Commerce of Christ College Irinjalakuda, conduted an inauguration of the club and a webinar about ‘Information retrieval using e-resources’ on 21^st  june 2021, monday, at 2 p.m. The programme was conducted on virtual zoom platform. Rev. Fr. Sibi Francis CMI, the librarian of our college was the resource person for the webinar.

 

ALUMNI LECTURE SERIES

1. The Alumni lecture series on “Banking sector changes in covid19 era” conducted on 16^th April 2021. Philson Varghese (Manager, The South Indian Bank Ltd., Irinjalakuda, Alumni Batch 2005-2008) was the resource person.
2. The alumni lecture series on “Personality Development” conducted on 29 th June 2021 The resource person for the lecture series was Dr.Joby John (Corporate international trainer and Alumni member, M.com batch 1996-1998)..The Keynote Address was given by Prof.A.M.Varghese (Principal, Jyothis College, Irinjalakuda and Rtd. Professor, Christ College (Autonomous), Irinjalakuda).
3. The alumni lecture series on “Life skills” conducted on 10^th July 2021 The resource person for the lecture series was Dr.Renju Joseph (GM in Aiswarya Group,Ayoor and Alumni member, M.com batch 2005-2007)..The Keynote Address was given by Prof.K.A Davis  (Principal, ELIMS College, Thrissur and Rtd. Professor, Christ College (Autonomous), Irinjalakuda).
