The Department of Vocational Studies was started after UGC approved the proposal to start a couple of undergraduate degree programmes for vocational studies in the year 2018. The department runs two programmes: 1. Bachelor of Vocation (Food Processing Technology) and 2. Bachelor of Vocation (Information Technology) The curriculum in each of the three years is a suitable mix of general education and skill components. At least 50% of skill development component is allotted to practical and industry training. The curriculum of both the B.Voc. programmes are assigned with NOS (National Occupational Standards) and Qualification Packs given by the respective Sector Skill Council under NSDC (National Skill Development Corporation).
At present, there are eight full time teaching staff and two non-teaching support staff. The department is equipped with state-of-the art laboratory facilities for both wet-lab experiments and in silico experiments. For B.Voc (FP) program, a modern analytical laboratory and a fully equipped food processing laboratory have been set up. For B.Voc (IT), a large computer laboratory with all IoT kits and accessory units have been set up. Though in its infancy, the department is rich with highly enthusiastic and vibrant students who are highly focused on their future goals.
