Invited Talk

Lecture on “Join the Race to make the World a better place” was conducted on 6^th June 2016 in connection with World Environment Day 2016 by Biodiversity Club, Enviro Club, Department of Botany, Department of Zoology, and the Department of Geology and Environmental Science. Dr. C.M. Joy, Former Registrar, Kerala Forest Research Institute, Peechi and Associate Professor (Retd.), Department of Botany, Sacred Heart College, Thevara was the resource person.

Exhibition

Biodiversity Club, Enviro Club, Department of Botany, Department of Zoology, and the Department of Geology and Environmental Science jointly organized Photo Exhibition on Wildlife and Environment on 7^th June, 2016, with more than 150 rare photographs depicting wildlife were exhibited in the Seminar Hall, Christ College, Irinjalakuda in connection with the World Environment Day, June 5^th 2016. Dr. Rajan R.V. (Principal-in-charge) Dr. Mathew Paul Ukken (Vice Principal) and Rev. Dr. Jolly Andrews CMI (Vice Principal), inaugurated the exhibition.

Essay Competiton

The Essay Competition on Pulses and Nutrition 2016 was conducted on 4^th October 2016 in connection with International Year of Pulses. Thirty-Nine students of Christ College (Autonomous) participated in the programme. The programme was conducted at Botany Lab, Christ College (Autonomous), Irinjalakuda. The prizes of the Essay Competition on Pulses and Nutrition were given on 18^th October, 2016 by Rev. Dr. T. M. Jose CMI, Principal, Christ College (Autonomous), Irinjalakuda. The programme was organized by the Department of Botany in association with Biodiversity Club. Kerala State Council for Science, Technology and Environment (KSCSTE), Thiruvananthapuram sponsored the programme.

PPT Presentation

The Intercollegiate PPT Presentation Contest on Pulses and Sustainable food Production, 2016 was conducted on 6^th October 2016 by the Department of Botany in association with Biodiversity Club in connection with International Year of Pulses at Seminar Hall. 15 teams from various colleges were participated in the programme. Kerala State Council for Science, Technology and Environment (KSCSTE), Thiruvananthapuram sponsored the Programme. The prizes to the winners were given on the same day 6^th October, 2016, after the programme by Rev. Dr. T. M. Jose CMI, Principal, Christ College (Autonomous), Irinjalakuda.

Dr. Karuna M.S., HOD and Associate Professor, Department of Home Science, Vimala College (Autonomous), Thrissur gave a lecture on “Nutritional Benefits of Pulses”, in connection with International Year of Pulses for the students of Christ College (Autonomous), Irinjalakuda held at on 18^th October 2016 organized by the Department of Botany in association with Biodiversity Club at Seminar Hall. The programme was sponsored by Kerala State Council for Science, Technology and Environment (KSCSTE), Thiruvananthapuram.
